AIRLIE BEACH MARATHON FESTIVAL

18/19 JULY 2020

The 8th annual Airlie Beach Marathon Festival will be held on the 18th and 19th of July 2020.

The award-winning Airlie Beach Marathon Festival will be run over very similar courses to last year with minor adjustments at the beginning and turn around points.  The major difference to previous years is that the festival is now a member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and the 42.2, 21.1, 10 and 5km courses will all be formally measured by an A grade measurer. This means any world, country or state records will be recognised and it can also be used as an Olympic qualifier.

The North Queensland Championship Marathon is a unique four lap off road (run on concrete footpaths and boardwalks) standard marathon that provides your support team with the opportunity to cheer you on several times at one location.

The program this year will include a 3 person relay team in the 21.1 km event and a corporate team (maximum of 10) in the 5 km event.

A new introduction is the Airlie Beach Foreshore Magic Mile to be run on Saturday afternoon.

The Airlie Beach Marathon Festival is not possible without the support of our main sponsors and we encourage you to support them.  We thank them for their support and you can go to their websites by clicking on their logos on our Sponsor page.

Why choose the Airlie Beach Marathon Festival?

Airlie Beach is a beautiful tropical holiday destination in its own right and the home of two marinas that provide access to the Whitsunday Islands that are popular for sailing, diving and snorkelling. It is located 150km north of Mackay and 300km south of Townsville. The scenery and climate in Airlie Beach during July is ideal for competing in the marathon festival. The region is serviced by three airports for the ease of access.
